We were thrilled to be asked to transform this overgrown area for the owners and residents of this private residential home for ladies in Lexden, Colchester. The aim was to produce an attractive new garden; especially to enable the residents to have a space that they can sit and enjoy. What was once a very tired and unwelcome garden which was impossible to use is now an inviting colourful garden which can be loved by everyone who works and lives there.
The works started with an extensive clearance of the unwanted vegetation. Then, the awkward step arrangements were changed to make for a much safer transition between the levels. Machine round posts were installed to form raised flowerbeds; together with a swirling disabled access pathway to enable residents to wonder around the whole garden.
A large selection of specimen plants and trees were also installed, providing a welcoming feel as you approached the property. Old favourites such as Lavender, Penstemon, and Fuchsias add colour to the sunny borders, whilst the shadier areas were given interest with Camellias, Rhododendrons and Aucubas. A tree seat was also installed to provide an area for residents to sit halfway round; so they could sit and enjoy the expanse of colourful planting. Finally, a new lawn was installed to complete this garden makeover.
