NEW AND REPLACEMENT HEDGES
A healthy hedge gives privacy, shelter and structure, and frames a garden or site in every season. Whether you need a new boundary hedge or a dead section replacing, our team supplies and plants the hedging, prepares the ground properly and makes sure it gets off to the best start.
We plant root ball hedging where you want height and screening from the start, and bare root hedging for longer runs and native mixes, which are planted during the dormant season. Where part of an existing hedge has died, we remove the dead plants and their roots, improve the soil and plant replacements matched as closely as possible to the existing hedge. Our range includes Portuguese laurel, cherry laurel, Griselinia, Euonymus Green Spire and box.
Hedge maintenance
HEDGE TRIMMING & CUTTING
Regular trimming keeps hedges dense, healthy and in proportion. We trim hedges as a one-off job or as part of a regular grounds maintenance contract, cutting to the right shape for the species and the setting, and we take all the clippings away.
If a hedge has grown out of control, we can cut it back hard and reshape it over one or more visits. Where a hedge is beyond saving, we can remove it, roots included, and replant.

Timing
WHEN TO PLANT AND TRIM
Root ball and bare root hedging is planted while the plants are dormant, typically from [November to March: Nick to confirm]. How often a hedge needs trimming depends on the species and how formal you want it to look. [Nick to confirm typical trimming frequency, for example once or twice a year for most hedges.] We will advise on the right timing for your hedge when we visit.

We work for homeowners, larger gardens and private estates, as well as care homes, industrial estates, offices and commercial premises, where neat hedging is part of the first impression visitors get.
Larger jobs are carried out by teams of two or more, so work is completed efficiently and the site is left tidy. We are members of the Association of Professional Landscapers and hold full insurance for residential and commercial work. Hedge care can be added to a residential or commercial grounds maintenance contract, so your hedges are looked after alongside the rest of your outdoor space.
