Garden Machinery Mechanic
We look after a wide range of gardens and commercial grounds across Essex and Suffolk, and the machinery that keeps our teams working needs to be in top condition. We’re looking for a skilled mechanic to take ownership of that — someone who knows their way around professional garden equipment and takes pride in keeping things running well.
This is a flexible role. We’re open to part-time or full-time, and happy to have a conversation about what works. If you’ve got the skills and the right attitude, we’ll shape the position around you.
The Role
You’ll be responsible for the servicing, maintenance and repair of our machinery and equipment fleet, which includes:
- Mowers — ride-on, pedestrian and robotic
- Grounds maintenance machinery
- Strimmers, blowers and hedge cutters
- Chainsaws and specialist cutting equipment
Day-to-day, that means routine servicing, diagnosing faults, carrying out repairs, and making sure everything leaving the yard is safe and ready to work. You’ll also help keep the workshop organised and flag when parts or consumables need ordering.
What We’re Looking For:
- Proven experience servicing and repairing garden or grounds care machinery
- Confident fault diagnosis — you can work through a problem methodically
- Familiarity with both petrol and battery-powered equipment
- A tidy, organised approach to the workshop and your work
- Reliable, self-motivated and happy working with a small, friendly team
- Full UK driving licence desirable
A formal qualification in mechanical maintenance is useful, but hands-on experience counts for just as much.

Professional Detail Gardener
We’re looking for someone who genuinely cares about the quality of their work — not just someone who enjoys gardening, but someone who takes real satisfaction in a garden that is immaculate: crisp edges, weed-free beds, plants that are healthy and well-presented.
You may have spent years tending your own garden and are ready to do it professionally, or you may already have commercial experience. This role would suit a mature person, or someone looking for a career change.
About the Role
This is a hands-on position focused on the day-to-day detail that defines the presentation of our clients’ gardens and grounds. Daily responsibilities include:
- Precision weeding and bed maintenance
- Grass cutting and lawn presentation
- Pruning, shaping and seasonal plant care
- Maintaining borders, feature areas and planted beds
- Identifying and reporting plant health issues
- Keeping hard surfaces clean, tidy and weed-free
- Working closely with clients and team members to deliver excellent service
You will begin with a structured shadowing period alongside an experienced senior team member, learning our standards, methods and approach to client care. Once settled, you will take full ownership of your own schedule and sites.
What We’re Looking For:
- Previous professional gardening experience — essential
- A deep, practical passion for horticulture and garden presentation
- Meticulous attention to detail
- Good plant and soil knowledge, with an eye for plant health
- The focus and resilience to maintain high-quality work throughout a full day outdoors
- A reliable, self-motivated approach — you take ownership and don’t need chasing
- Confident, professional communication with clients and team members
- Full UK driving licence
- A valid and existing right to work in the UK
Hours: Monday to Friday, 07:15–17:00.

We’re seeking a skilled and motivated Landscape and Grounds Maintenance Operative to join our expanding team. In this role, you’ll play a key part in enhancing and maintaining outdoor environments to the highest standards.
Responsibilities include:
- Routine grounds maintenance such as grass cutting and hedge trimming
- Installation of turf, plants, and soft landscaping features
You’ll work both independently and collaboratively, consistently representing Greengrass Landscape Contractors Ltd. with professionalism, reliability, and pride in your work.
Previous experience is required. This is a full-time position, with standard working hours from Monday to Friday, 07:15 to 17:00.
