Part-Time Self-Employed Qualified Bookkeeper
We’re looking for a capable and commercially minded Self-Employed Bookkeeper to manage our bookkeeping activities. This is a trusted role within a family-run business with nearly 20 years of operation across Essex and Suffolk.
Location: Claydon, Ipswich | Hybrid Working | Part-time
You’ll work closely with the Managing Director, maintaining accurate financial records, and ensuring the financial side of the business runs smoothly. You’ll need to be someone who can work on your own initiative, use your judgment, and handle a variety of tasks.
Bookkeeping Responsibilities
- Maintain accurate records in QuickBooks Online
- Input supplier invoices through HubDoc
- Prepare and submit VAT returns
- Reconcile bank accounts and Jobber (job management system) with QuickBooks
- Manage GoCardless collections and Volopa account
- Handle statements and credit control
- Prepare year-end information for our external accountant
Administrative Responsibilities
- Submit invoices via client portals
- Manage client and supplier onboarding documentation
- Manage insurance renewals and key supplier relationships
- Provide general administrative support to the Managing Director
What We’re Looking For:
- AATQB qualification (essential)
- AML Licence
- Strong commercial bookkeeping experience, ideally 5+ years in a similar SME environment
- Essential: QuickBooks Online experience
- Desirable: HubDoc and Jobber experience
- Confident preparing and submitting VAT returns
- Experience managing credit control and cash flow
- Comfortable handling compliance documentation and administrative processes
- Excellent attention to detail and strong organisational skills
- Able to work on your own initiative and use your judgment
- Professional, reliable and trustworthy
This role requires someone who is comfortable wearing multiple hats, who doesn’t need their hand held, and who takes quiet satisfaction in keeping the books accurate and the office running smoothly.

Lawn Treatment Operative
We’re looking for an experienced Lawn Treatment Operative to join our growing team. This role is ideal for someone who takes genuine pride in their craft and understands that the right treatment, applied at the right time, makes all the difference to the health and appearance of a lawn.
Responsibilities include:
- Applying seasonal fertiliser, weed control and moss treatment programmes
- Monitoring lawn health and advising clients on best practice care
- Carrying out pest control treatments and identifying turf health issues
- Maintaining accurate treatment records and communicating professionally with clients
Seasonal Lawn Renovation (Spring and Autumn):
A key part of this role is the ability to carry out full lawn renovations during the spring and autumn seasons. This includes:
- Scarifying
- Aeration
- Overseeding
- Top-dressing
We’re looking for someone who understands the timing, technique and attention to detail required to bring tired lawns back to life.
You’ll work independently across a mix of residential and commercial sites, consistently representing Greengrass with professionalism and pride. This is a full-time position, Monday to Friday, 07:15 to 17:00.
What We’re Looking For:
- Previous experience in a lawn treatment or grounds maintenance role (essential)
- PA1 and PA6 certificates of competence (essential)
- A sound understanding of lawn nutrition, seasonal treatment cycles and common lawn pests
- Reliable, self-motivated and comfortable managing your own daily schedule
- Full UK driving licence

Professional Detail Gardener

You may have spent years tending your own garden and are ready to do it professionally, or you may already have commercial experience. This role would suit a mature person, or someone looking for a career change.
About the Role
This is a hands-on position focused on the day-to-day detail that defines the presentation of our clients’ gardens and grounds. Daily responsibilities include:
- Precision weeding and bed maintenance
- Grass cutting and lawn presentation
- Pruning, shaping and seasonal plant care
- Maintaining borders, feature areas and planted beds
- Identifying and reporting plant health issues
- Keeping hard surfaces clean, tidy and weed-free
- Working closely with clients and team members to deliver excellent service
You will begin with a structured shadowing period alongside an experienced senior team member, learning our standards, methods and approach to client care. Once settled, you will take full ownership of your own schedule and sites.
What We’re Looking For:
- Previous professional gardening experience — essential
- A deep, practical passion for horticulture and garden presentation
- Meticulous attention to detail
- Good plant and soil knowledge, with an eye for plant health
- The focus and resilience to maintain high-quality work throughout a full day outdoors
